No matter how mad a person gets, I must say you are so right. I have been in the position where I was doing the most for someone who thought they were doing the most (half-*$$). I appreciate a black man getting on here and keeping it 100%. YES ,100%! I'm not saying that I have practicedf what you are preaching at all times, but I will say these videos are definately a reality check. Thanks Lewis!!!
Oooh. I had a friend that was an I I I Me Me Me person. After awhile I started to resent her. I felt like I was sharing pieces of my personality and showing that I was human. That's something good friends do, but this person continuously made their strides, accomplishment, and how they were not doing what I had done the focal point. I not only became insulted, but I was also ready for her to get the hell out of my house.
You have the right scripture to explain love, in fact my pastor was just speaking of this Sunday. However, to me, you seem very angry about this issue. But you have to realize everyone interprets every scripture differently. Look at the way you are coming off to people. "Thats pure stupidity",you said love was not rude, however, thats totally rude. Also you said you choose who you love or who you want to love, if this is true then thats like saying you know God's plan and we don't know. God chooses who will be our marital partner. People are out here trying to choose who they will love and marry and thats why there are so many divorces.
Just great! Love hearing a man speak about what he is passionate about. I have to say I did not know what love was until I learn to love someone unconditionally. I am 38 and to have to wait to so long to figure it out. I just hope others are listening to you. Stay real!
Hello Lewis. I think your great!!!! Just wanted to add a little bit of my own knowledge. There are actually 6 styles of LOVE , all based on Greek terms:1. Mania- is the obsessive love style. Manic lovers experience mood swings ranging form ectasty to despair.2. Ludus- is a playful love stle. Ludus is associated with lack of committment.Love is just for fun, a gamed to be played.Relationships are casual and rarely last for long. It is still considered love.3. Storge- is the companionate comfortable love and it develops slowly.4. Pragma- is practical based on logic, rather than emotion.
Just wanted to help you out bit. Please keep the blogs coming. I adore you.!!1
I must say...I've just watched 3 of your videos and absolutely loved them. I didn't need time for them to sink in because I've been sharing the same words to anyone who would listen or ask. The what is love piece is the same thing I've been screaming for the last 3 years. Love is indeed a verb and not a noun. Keep them coming!
Lewis, I just recently found your link on Facebook and I was hooked right from the start. I think what you say is what we need to hear as black women. I turned my whole Facebook friend list on to your fan page. You should be recieving a inflow of new fans a lot from Florida and California.(lol) I have one friend that's going through hell and I would like to share a few thigns with you and maybe you can do a new post that will help her and many others. Please hit me up kay101@myway.com We were up until 3am last night replaying if you're not married then you are single she was really getting the message because of the way you put it. I've tried to tell her certain things , but she gets mad and won't listen to me. I think you are the man we need to help our fellow sisters. I promise this will make a good blog hit me up thanks. KAY
But you're belief that Jesus was the first "God" or religion that had someone die for sins is false.
The Virgin Birth, Crucifixion, Died and Resurrected in 3 Days, Curing Diseases.
I'm sorry but those were common in pagan religions way before Jesus supposedly lived. The story of Jesus were copy and paste of other religions in that area at the time.
Thank you for being a voice for the love of God. Its always a blessing to be reminded of what life is all about - loving each other as Christ loved us. Keep up the good work and may God continue to bless you in all that you do to glorify His name.Jenns
You are so right about "If you're not married, you're single". A lot of people would take offense to this, but I'm one that didn't. From all the you said I was one that set myself up for failure, I'm not shame to admit it. I can relate to all that was said. Thank you
QUICK QUESTION: ARE ALL YOUR VIDEOS CONCENTRATED ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN?
...BECAUSE I THINK A GRAVE TOPIC THAT YOU COULD BLOG ABOUT IS FRATERNITY/SORORITY AND HOW MOST OF OUR YOUTH WHO ARE BLESSED WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE HIGHER LEARNING ARE THROWING IT AWAY IN BEHIND THESE ORGANIZATIONS THAT REALLY DON'T STAND IN CHRISTIANITY...
Thanks Lewis for the insite...i truly belive thatthis was a message to me fom God....i cleared up alot of cloudy opinions i had concerning love...i would like to know where to email you..i have some other questions that i would like to ask you...
Wow, so true. I am at a lose for words. As I began to learn what love is 1 Corinthians 13 became my favorite scripture. Another great one Lewis. God bless you, "man of God".
WELL ITS ACTUALLY NOT TRUE THAT NO ONE RECITES OR EVEN REFERENCE THE BIBLE VERSE IN THEIR R'N'B MUSIC. LAURYN HILL'S SONG "TELL HIM" HAS PART OF THE BIBLE VERSE IN HER MUSIC. BUT NONETHELESS, YOU WERE VERY INFORMATIVE IN THIS ONE! KEEP PROMOTING THESE MESSAGES TO OUR YOUNG BLACK YOUTH AND TO THE WORLD IN GENERAL. WE NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE YOU. I HOPE YOU'RE ALSO SPEAKING AT COLLEGES TO GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT THE REAL ISSUES THAT LIE AMONG OUR BLACK. I AM A SENIOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH, AND WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO COME SPEAK TO OUR BLACK COMMUNITY.
The concept of what your saying is tru but the tone in your voice clearly states that you yourself dont really know wat love is either.... Som1 who has experienced and believes in love would have had a better flow bringing the definition as well as amenities of love into our hearts and minds.... I for one have been in truely and deeply been in love for i can tell the difference... *due to unforceen circumstances we are no longer together..But My only concern is;
Ever so true... Can you also speak on whether Agape love truly exists for supposed platonic hetero friendships between a man and woman? I always said that platonic relationships do not exist for those that were intimately involved in the past because one of the parties harbors feelings that are considered lustful or sexual attraction in nature... Please address and speak on that.
Not to get into a long story, but I was with someone for 4 years. After he hurt me I did things to hurt him and we just did things to hurt each other. I realized in all that hurting that I lost myself. I started to go back to church and was reminded of my purpose. We had a child together and I thought that I loved him but he didn't love me. I realize now that I don't think that I loved him either. I don't think I know what love (relationship) status is. I have never experienced love from a male including my father, I was never loved enough from a male point of view to understand it. I know my character and nurturing personality so I think I have confused that with love. Getting back into the church and listening to your blogs about; What love is, Why do men cheat?, and If your not married you single,I have re-evaluted myself. He told me he wasn't ready for marriage, we weren't ready for marriage (which is true). He said we did too much damage to our relationship to put a title on our progress towards change and a possible reconciliation. But yet he still wanted to be exclusive and only have sex with me. When I told him that because I wanted to start completely fresh and I wanted to follow the word of God, I wanted to wait until we got married to have sex. He said after 4 years of laying down with each other and a child, you now want to wait until you are married? He said if you would of told me this from the beginning we would have never went this far in the relationship. He dropped all of our progress and everything else out the door and completley let go of everything. Our 4 years, our relationship, our so called family. I was so amazed and shocked, but why should I have been?? Shoot why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? So in the end. As a single black mother of 2 children, a graduate student, and a Christian I thank you for sharing all your wisdom. Because you have taken the time to speak, others have a chance to be heard. And if it matters you have put a hand in saving me from myself. I think my days of feeling lonely, tired, and angry are over. No more tears from this day forward. May god bless you and help you to continue to share his word, and share your wisdom. Thank you again..... A Fan..;-)P.S sorry in the end it was a long story... lol
Lol we have the conscious mind and the subconscious mine and then instinct, everything we do consciously is what we do by choice vs instinct and the subconscious mind, in which the deepest part of our mind and natural action. Our does things we don't want it to, crying for example, the feeling you have is so overwhelming that you shed one tear with out even realizing it, possibly leading to someone breaking down with tears and sum(happy or sad). Love is an emotion and it is one of those you can't help. I am glad someone is putting something out! man i keep trying to tell people what love is, but people take it too damn lightly. It takes a selfless, chivalrous and refined character to know what love is without reading it or being told it, why i say all this is because i have lived it. I wish people would not take our mind and love so lightly =(. Great job Lewis i am glad you are putting this out there.
Hey Lewis, thanks a lot for that.I just added some knowledge to what I already know about love but I have a question,do you think that someone who's in love can fall out of love?Personally I think the person was in lust not love. What do you say?
Everyone is like a ship out at sea Love is an Anchor that keeps us in place, those who drift from place to place have not,do not and are not in love. They just sail encountering other ships exchanging goods or "no goods" i should say.
If somebody drops their anchor in your life there's something about you that made them want to stay but if they say they dropped their anchor and are still out to drift, you should know they are pirates.
Saying someone gets on your nerves, or being disrespectful or holding on to a grudge does not mean you aren't in love. All of those things can still exist when you are in love because like you said in a previous post, there exists the flesh, while this love you describe from the Bible exists in the spirit. In anger, I have been disrespectful to my sister, friends, etc. We make mistakes, even in love. This does not mean we do not truly love our spouse, our mother or father, etc. Your definition is too narrowly construed. The definition in the Bible is the ideal, what we should strive for, but because we are a combination of our spirit and our flesh we often fall prey to our flesh. AGAIN, this does not mean I do not truly love or that my love is not real. Peace and Blessings
How do you tell a man that thinks that he is in love with you that your not attracted to him and your not compatible? When I try to tell him he can't understand it. What do I say when I tell him I just want to be friends?
